THE CHAIRMAN´S VIEW

Hi there everyone:

My name is Enrique Martinez, I´m 45 years old and I´m an architech.

I´m envolved  with Benelli restoration over 15 years and more than 100 bikes are now stored completed or dismantled in my garage.

In Spain Benellis were very popular in the 70´s, due to the gobern policy to get a “closed market” for japanese machinery. European bikes were well solded over here and the Benelli were the only “japanese-look-like” in the shops.

In 1988 I bought my first 750 Sei, a non running bike from a braker. It was too beautyfull to be desmantled. I needed to buy two more bikes to complete the first one with the best parts of the whole lot. The result was superb and I decided to restore the other two Sei too. More bikes I bought for parts more bikes I was for restoring. A neverending story that has not finished yet.

In 1992 a 750 Sei was priced in Spain at 200 Euros, but today it´s very dificult in finding one for less than 2.000 Euros, incomplete and in non running condition. The best examples have been taken for German collectors in the mid 90´s who came regulary to Spain driving a big truck to fill with Laverda, Ducati and Guzzi.

I´m very proud with the work that I´ve done recuperating the most number of Benelli Quattro and Sei that I´ve could and I hope to do in the near future.
